In this pivotal role, the Lead Fashion Bag Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the creation of cutting-edge, stylish, and functional bag collections that reflect and elevate the brand's identity. This position demands a perfect balance of creative ingenuity and practical design expertise, coupled with a deep understanding of market trends, premium sustainable materials, and efficient production processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and Concept Development:

• Lead the design process for seasonal bag collections, including concept creation, sketches, and prototyping.
• Research fashion trends, customer preferences, and competitor products to ensure innovative and market-relevant designs.
• Create mood boards, colour palettes, and material concepts to guide the design vision.

Material Selection and Development:

• Source and select high-quality materials, hardware, and trims for bag designs.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop custom materials or finishes as required.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

• Mentor the design and production assistant, providing guidance and feedback to enhance creativity and technical skills.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and production, to ensure cohesive execution.

Prototyping and Sampling:

• Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, ensuring designs meet quality and functional standards.
• Revise and refine designs based on feedback and production constraints.

Production Oversight:

• Collaborate with manufacturers, together with the design and production assistant, to ensure designs are produced accurately and cost-effectively.
• Monitor quality control processes to maintain brand standards.

Market and Trend Analysis:

• Stay updated on global fashion trends, consumer behaviour, and emerging technologies in design and materials.
• Translate insights into commercially viable bag collections.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Accessory Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in bag/accessory design, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong creative vision and a portfolio showcasing innovative bag designs.
• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and 3D modeling tools.
• In-depth knowledge of materials, hardware, and construction techniques.
• Excellent leadership and project management skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with luxury or high-end brands.
• Knowledge of sustainable materials and eco-friendly design practices.
