Description
The Christmas Hamper Coordinator provides general oversight and direction to the Hamper and Food Drive campaigns. The Christmas Hamper Coordinator organizes, directs, and supervises the work performed by Christmas hamper Campaign Worker. They will also ensure adequate volunteer coverage to assist with the campaign.
Key Responsibilities
Administration
- Work in partnership with the Toy Drive Coordinator and CFS staff to ensure smooth campaign
- Recruit, train and provide supervision to volunteers who assist with the Christmas Hamper or Food Drives
- In cooperation with the Hamper Campaign and CFS staff, ensure all campaign information is updated and promoted to the community and partnering agencies
- Secure donations or sponsors to assist with food and refreshments for Hamper volunteer an
- Maintain confidential records of client information
- Complete online applications with clients as required
- Answer telephone, manage and/or redirect calls as appropriate
- Prepare, coordinate and distribute correspondences as required
- Update information and materials as required throughout the campaign
- Coordinate team meetings together with the Toy Drive Campaign
- Complete final campaign report to director to include campaign highlights and recommendations
Hamper Program
- Provide campaign oversight to online registration, troubleshooting any application issues or concerns
- Provide direction and supervision to campaign assistant
- Develop timeline of events and important dates
- Represent The Salvation Army at campaign fundraising and community events
- Secure campaign volunteers for registration, distribution and campaign administrative needs
- Provide volunteer onboarding, training and support throughout the campaign
- In partnership with other Campaign leads, liaise with community agencies and businesses to promote the Hamper Campaign and Virtual Food Drives
- Provide support to other seasonal campaigns as required
- Oversee and assist with preparation of registrant gift card packages
- Collect and forward statistical information as required
- Manage the preparation of hamper certificate packages to delivered through the Fire department and Police Services or for Agency pick ups
Seasonal Food Drives
- Work in cooperation with the CFS staff to coordinate the Christmas Hamper Food Drive
- Liaise with the City, Community Agencies and Businesses to promote Food Drives
- Create and maintain a shared spreadsheet with pertinent Food Drive information and timelines
- Ensure there is a regular pick up and/or delivery schedule for Food Drive donations
- Collect, record and forward statistical information as required
Working Conditions
Perform other position related duties as required.
- This is a Seasonal Full-time position based on up to 40 hours per week.
- Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required as schedule may vary from week to week.
- Ability to lift/move more than 10 lbs. (4.5kg).
- This job requires reaching, bending, stooping and, working in a standing position
- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- Completion of high school
Experience And Knowledge
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.
- Experience in office administration.
- Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
