What’s the deal?

We are looking for a talented Pixel Artist to join our team for Edge of Chaos Dungeons, an isometric pixel art dungeon crawler set in a gritty, medieval fantasy world. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for creating highly detailed, atmospheric environments and characters from an isometric perspective. You will play a crucial role in bringing our dungeons to life, leveraging your expertise in pixel art, character animation, and environmental design.

In this role, you will create engaging 2D characters, environments, visual effects, and animations. Strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with both designers and developers are essential to meet project goals and deadlines. Familiarity with the Godot game engine will be a big advantage. This is a full-time remote position, with a preference for candidates based in Europe. Candidates within commuting distance of Warsaw (Poland) can be office based. You will be joining a project that is developing a web-based RTS rogue-like dungeon crawler featuring procedurally generated 3D dungeons populated with 2D characters and objects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Concept and design 2D pixel art characters
• Create 2D pixel art character animations on an isometric 8-directional grid (walk cycles/ idle/ attacks/ abilities/ death/ effects)
• Create full character sprite sheets
• Design various pixel art assets, including items, objects and backgrounds
• Model simple 3D objects to enhance dungeon environments
• Texture 3D assets with stylized pixel art textures
• Create and implement UI assets and menus

Qualifications:

• Proven experience working on game projects
• Proficiency in pixel art character design
• Experience animating characters on an isometric 8-directional grid
• Basic 3D modeling and texturing skills
• Ability to create assets that match the dark medieval pixel art style
• Strong creativity and a solid understanding of color theory and art fundamentals

Good to have:

• Knowledge or prior experience working with Godot, including asset and animation implementation
• Knowledge of Unity (helpful if your Godot experience is limited)
• Experience in other areas of game development
• Experience in game design
• Familiarity with particle systems

First up, you’ll have a chat with our team members who you would work with accompanied by HR. Second meeting would be with our CEO, Rashid. If everything goes well, we will provide you with an offer.
