Job Title: Telecom & SCADA Expert – Senior Professional

Contract Duration: 3 Years

Project: Design Review for 9 Smart Distribution Control Centers and 6 Control Center Buildings

Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled *Telecom & SCADA Expert* to conduct a comprehensive design review for the large smart power distribution grid project in Saudi Arabia. The expert will ensure the seamless integration of *telecommunications* and *SCADA* systems to manage and monitor the distribution network efficiently, supporting smart grid operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the design review and validation of *telecommunications* and *SCADA* systems for Smart Distribution Control Centers.

- Ensure that *SCADA architecture, **network configurations*, and communication protocols align with the project's technical and operational requirements.

- Evaluate system designs for *reliability, **scalability, and **cybersecurity*, ensuring robust performance for critical infrastructure.

- Review telecommunications infrastructure, including *fiber optics, **microwave links*, and other wireless communications used to support control and data acquisition systems.

- Oversee the integration of SCADA with *Distribution Management Systems (DMS)* and other smart grid technologies.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including power systems engineers, IT, and control center designers, to ensure end-to-end system integration.

- Ensure compliance with local and international standards and regulations related to *telecom* and *SCADA* systems.

- Identify and address potential design and integration issues, recommending enhancements where necessary.

- Support the implementation of *redundancy, **disaster recovery, and **remote access* capabilities for the SCADA systems.

- Work closely with technology vendors and subcontractors to evaluate system performance and ensure adherence to technical specifications.

- Provide expert advice on *cybersecurity* measures specific to SCADA and telecom infrastructure, ensuring the protection of sensitive operational data.

- Train and mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge on best practices in telecommunications and SCADA system design.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in *Telecommunications Engineering, **Electrical Engineering*, or a related field.

- 10+ years of experience in *SCADA* and *telecommunications* systems, particularly in large infrastructure projects.

- Proven experience in the design, review, and implementation of telecom networks and SCADA systems for *smart grids* or *control centers*.

- In-depth knowledge of *SCADA protocols* (e.g., *Modbus, **DNP3, **IEC 61850), **data communications, and **network security*.

- Expertise in designing and reviewing *telecom systems* like *IP networks, **fiber optics, **microwave, and **wireless communication* for critical infrastructure.

- Experience with *real-time control* systems, *data acquisition*, and distribution network monitoring.

- Familiarity with *cybersecurity standards* for SCADA and telecom systems.

- Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to lead design review processes and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred:

- Experience with *smart distribution systems, **energy automation, and **control centers* in the *Middle East* or *GCC region*.

- Familiarity with *NERC-CIP* or similar cybersecurity regulations for control systems.

- Certification in *Telecom Systems* or *SCADA Engineering* is a plus.

Duration:

3-year contract, with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements.
