Financial Controller

Duties

  • Prepare and oversee accurate financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans. Monitor performance against budget and report variances.
  • Supervise and review the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies. Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Coordinate and liaise with internal and external auditors during financial audits. Prepare necessary documentation and respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance, including the preparation and filing of tax returns. Ensure adherence to tax regulations and optimize tax strategies.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance, support, and professional development. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Implement risk management procedures to protect the organization’s financial stability
  • Oversee the management of corporate credit cards
  • Oversee casework financial summaries and review payments in coordination with the Registrar and Deputy Registrar.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies with the Operations Manager to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

 

Requirements

  • You will have proven experience as a financial controller with a thorough knowledge of accounting procedures. You will also have hands-on experience with accounting software packages (for example, Microsoft Dynamics NAV and advanced MS Excel skills. You should:
  • Have an aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills;
  • Be a self-motivated team-player;
  • Possess strong inter-personal, time management and administrative skills;
  • Have excellent attention to detail;
  • Write clearly, persuasively and concisely;
  • Have analytical and evaluative skills;
  • Have an organised approach to work;
  • Be punctual and meet deadlines;
  • Take responsibility for your own actions and demonstrate drive and enthusiasm in everyday work;
  • Recognise and suggest ideas for improvement in your own work and seek to solve problems independently;
  • Work well under pressure;
  • Achieve planned work and set own performance standards; and
  • Be able to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
  • You will also be expected to continuously look for new ways to lend support, propose improvements to benefit the entity and provide cover for other staff as and when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • CPA / CA/ ACCA
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, is preferable
